Sally and Hendrik, Rushton Hall…
Sally and Hendrick’s day was one will be forever etched in my mind – in more ways than one!
Sally got ready in the huge bridal suite at Rushton Hall whilst Hendrick and his Groomsmen enjoyed a drink at the other side of the venue. The morning was perfect all round and Sally looks so beautiful in her amazing gown and veil.
The ceremony was held in the orangery which I loved because of all the beautiful light! Afterwards it was outside for some group photos in the stunning grounds.
And then came the fountain. Ah, yes—the fountain.
Rushton Hall’s fountain is a lovely focal point in the iddle of the courtyard, especially during a summer wedding! I had got through most of the group shots and then it was time for the Groomsmen…
As I backed up to get the angle just right, I felt myself sudden toppling backwards through the air. In that split second, my camera stayed glued to my face as I lost my balance and tumbled backward—directly into the fountain!
For a moment, everything went silent. The guests were stunned, and so was I. But before I knew it, laughter erupted from all sides. The bride and groom were in stitches, and honestly, so was I. After a few shocked seconds, I managed to pull myself out, soaking wet from head to toe and covered in pond weeds, but the memory cards all fine – they’re waterproof!
Despite the unexpected plunge, we finished the portraits, and I went to quickly change and get my back up cameras! That day, not only did I capture beautiful memories for the couple, but we all ended up with an unforgettable story to tell. It’s moments like these that remind me how unpredictable wedding photography can be!
So, to any photographer out there: when shooting at Rushton Hall (or anywhere near water), always mind your step haha!
